College of Elangomat and Leadership Sciences

20.  A Candidate Seminar. This is a 1 hr class designed for newly elected candidates. This class will cover the basics and opportunities that the OA has to offer and be taught by the Lodge Chiefs and Section Officers. Candidates may then select up to three additional classes from Native American Culture and Ceremonies NACC, College of Elangomat and Leadership Sciences CELS, or College of Culinary Arts CCA to earn an associates degree. This class is taught from 8:00 to 8:50


21.  From Ordeal to Brotherhood. This class is for new Ordeal members beginning the road to Brotherhood. This class is taught from 9:00 to 9:50 


22.  Elangomat Training. What are the duties and responsibilities of an Elangomat. How to ensure that each ordeal member becomes a brotherhood member. This class is taught from 8:00 to 8:50 


23.  Chapter Leadership Symposium. Learn how to be an effective chapter leader through effective communication including a Roundtable Discussion for youth and adults.  on guiding and supporting the youth.  This class is taught from 11:00 to 11:50 


24.  Time Management for Youth.  How to plan, and get things done on time. This class is taught from 8:00 to 8:50 


25.  Time Management for Adults.  How to plan, and get things done on time. This class is taught from 9:00 to 9:50 


26.  Order of The Arrow Troop or Team Representative. What the OA representative does and why he is a vital member of the troop dynamics. This class it taught from 11:00 to 11:50 


27.  Teaching Leadership Skills Through Games. A fun and exciting way to learn new leadership skills. This class will reinforce great leadership. This class is taught from 10:00 to 10:50 


28.  Planning for a Successful Event.  Discussion on what is needed to plan and execute a successful event including how to create a 90 day plan. This class is taught from 9:00 to 9:50 


29.  Becoming a Lodge or Section Officer.  Required class for anyone running for section office. This class is taught from 11:00 to 11:50 


30.  Promoting Year Round Scout Camping.   Achieving the purpose of the Order.  Discussions will include how to help scouts and units have a year round camping experiences.  Where to go camping, including historic trails. This class is taught from 11:00 to 11:50 Your instructor will be Ryan Mecham. Youth instructor pending


31.  Back Country Safety and First Aid. How to enjoy the back country and how to handle emergencies when they happen. This class is taught from 10:00 to 10:50 


32.  Chapter Building. Resources, training officers, scheduling, setup elections, visitations, and ordeals are some of the topics we will be going through to help you build your chapter. This class is taught from 8:00 to 8:50 


33.  Look who’s talking now. Communications between youth and adults, youth to youth, and adult to adult. Who is driving your chapter. This class is taught from 9:00 to 9:50 


34.  Keeping your core. Brotherhood retention, Elangomat program, and the friend concept will be discussed in this course aimed at helping you keep your core membership. This class is taught from 10:00 to 10:50 


35.  Finances and fundraising. How to make and keep your budget and how to do fundraising. This class is taught from 11:00 to 11:50 


36.  Patch Trading. Learn how to trade, collect, and display different types of patches. This class is taught from 10:00 to 10:50 


37.  Becoming a World Class Leader. David Halliday and the ELKUTA Chief give a great insight to the Advisor – Officer relationship with skits, examples, and discussion. This class is taught at 10:00 to 10:50 


38.  Helping Youth Reach for the Stars. David Halliday uses his years of experience in working with youth to teach Advisors how to help guide their youth to heights they didn’t know they could reach. This class is taught at 11:00 to 11:50.  


39.  Backpacking This class teaches what equipment to pack, and demonstrates what not to bring as well. In this class you will get to see examples of personal gear and crew gear, including backpacking tents, tarps and stoves. This class will be taught from 9:00 to 9:50 


40. Planning Wilderness and High Adventure Activities. Does your troop, team, or crew want to go on some wilderness or high adventure trips, but you have no idea how to go about it because the activity is something you have never done? This class will give you everything you need to be able to plan any activity you would like. This class will be taught from 11:00 to 11:50
